Alcorn State University is a public Historically Black Land Grant University near Lorman and Mississippi. It was established in 1871. Alcorn State University is also known as Alcorn State or ASU or Alcorn.

Alcorn University became the Alcorn Agriculture and Mechanical College in 1878. In 1974, Alcorn Agriculture and Mechanical College became the Alcorn State University.

The Motto of the ASU is Where Knowledge and Character Matter. It was also the first Black Land Grant College founded in the United States.

Sounds of Dyn-O-mite

In 1960, the Athe Alcorn State marching band was established. SOD has over t90 members. The World Renowned Golden Girls or GGs is the dance line that has been featured with SOD and was established in 1968.

The GGs is the oldest dance line featured with a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) marching band which is why they often refer to themselves as The Mother of HBCU dance lines.

For Undergraduates Students

  • Complete the College Prep Curriculum with a minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Complete the College Prep Curriculum with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and at least 16 scores or higher on the ACT
  • Complete the College Prep Curriculum with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and at least 18 scores on the ACT or higher.

  • An International Student must submit the regular application for admission form and transcript from high school or previously attended college to be considered for admission.
