California State University is the foremost public university located in the eastern region of Los Angeles, California. Located at the center of the Los Angeles metropolitan area just five miles (8km) east of Downtown Los Angeles, founded in 1947.  It is also known as Golden Angeles University. It is a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution, Minority-Serving Institution, and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution.

The student body of Cal State LA has more than 26,000 students mostly from the greater Los Angeles area, and 250,000 alumni as well as 1,700 Faculties. It conducts a semester system with two semesters, each semester comprising 15 weeks duration per year.

The University changed to the semester system as part of a system-wide transformation of all quarter campuses in the fall of 2016. There are eight colleges that house a total of four schools, about 50 academic departments, divisions, and interdisciplinary programs proposing a variety of majors.

California State University is home to the critically praised Luckman Jazz-Orchestra. It is known as a unique Early Entrance Program in the Honors College for talented students as young as 11. University Research Center (ORSCA)

Cal State LA has an Office of Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (ORSCA). Basically, it is a unit in the Division of Academic Affairs that provides support in research development services to the university community. ORSCA’s main purpose is to help Principal Investigators determine external funding opportunities.

Also, it feeds service at every stage of proposal development. This unit provides guidance for adherence issues related to the use of human subjects and animal subjects in conflicts of interest, research, and research misconduct to ensure the highest conformity with University and Federal policies.

Requirements for International Students

  3. Earn a GED at the end of the Spring term prior to Fall enrollment.
