Georgia Institute of Technology is a research university in Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded in 1885. The Motto of Georgia Institute of Technology is Progress and Service. It is also known as Georgia Tech or GT and Tech or The Institute in Georgia State.

The campuses of the Georgia Institute of Technology are in Savannah, Metz, France, China, and Singapore. During the reconstruction period, the idea of a technology school was introduced in Georgia. Georgia Governor D. McDaniel passed the bill to give funds to the new school in 1885.

About Georgia Institute of Technology

Richard Peters donated 4 acres of the garden suburb known as Peters Park in 1887. Georgia School of Technology was opened with two buildings in 1888 in which one of the buildings had classrooms where the teachers taught their students while the other building had a foundry, boiler room, and engine room.

U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt visited GT in 1905 and gave a lecture about the importance of technology. In 1912, GT school began the classes of commerce. Georgia Tech has 6 colleges and 31 departments with academic units in science. In 1919, Annie T. Wise became the first graduate female.
